Risk Factors of AID (Assignments Induced Depression)

Karn H.Y.

Department of JBC undergraduates, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow

Abstract: Recent studies had evaluated AID with publication of studies using logistic regression analysis to simultaneously identify multiple independent AID predictors and publication of meta-analyses and systematic reviews. In this multicenter (all units in JBC), prospective, observational study, we evaluated the impact  in 117 Mpharm undergraduates subjected to numerous assignments that requires long-hours of immobility in front of their laptops. It was found that more than 75% of students suffer from depression in all types of assignments allocated. (p<0.001). However, CPP-related assignments had significantly shown to increase the risk of depression by almost 2-fold. On the other hand, there was no difference between AID induced by either Pharmcare or Research project related assignments. Both groups induced severe depression in students before (2months) and during (1 week)  the course of working on these assignments. Female students who tend to binge are also strongly correlated with this syndrome. Interestingly, there is also a link between students with history of short attention disorder and this syndrome. Further research examining genetic and family history as potential risk factors should greatly improve predictive systems.

Parisss my love

23 Feb

Our final stop before heading back to Glasgow. It was love at first feel.:) I love the hustle and bustle of the place. And yet in the midst of all this, u cannot  ignore the romance and serenity it radiates.

I guess i have a penchant for happening cities:) hehe

Day 1

First stop was the famed Notre Dame.

img_87771well. another mandatory jumping pic:P

img_87951

another very gothic church. The music that echoed throughout the building was so haunting it gave me goosebumps:P

img_8819

Found a park behind the church. A very pretty one indeed

To many, Eiffel Tower was just a piece of steel crap. To us it was underrated. It was just as grand as how it was described. It actually looked intimidating haha. esp when ure right next to it. It was too windy that day so we just took the lift all the way to the peak:) But it drizzled, sadly to say, so our piccies were gray and overcast.

haha i know we jump alot:P

Day 2

Musee du Louvre

If you are truly a huge fan or art or history, one day wouldnt suffice. U will need the 3 day pass at least. For us, 3-4 hours cukupla ahaha.

It houses collections from all dynasties and eras from all over the world. My favourite was particularly the ones from Egypt and Napoleon’s apartment.

Vatican City

22 Feb

We queued for almost 40mins to get into the buildings surrounded by these concrete walls. We had so much time waiting we had to do something productive.

Rome city of Ruin

22 Feb

The title says it all. U see replica of the ruins in Roman Forum all over the city. Felt like i was transported to another era when i was here. It was as though our history books came alive.

First day we walked around after duping the guesthouse we booked originally. It was disgustingly dirty and the sheets were not even changed since the previous customer. Or previous previous *yikes*

We got some help from a very nice internet cafe man who speaks English and introduced us another B&B.Albeit a little pricey, the place was fab! Not to mention the hot guy who manages the place.:P shit i dun even remember his name

img_8204

The very very cute granny who talks very excitedly. In Italian only. It was like duck talking to chicken when we try to respond:P

img_7428

And yet another outdated one (Florence & Pisa)

22 Feb

Reluctantly we bid adieu to Venice and headed to Florence. Another of my fav city. At least the bars and pubs open till wee hours in the morning and they have many shops that sells pretty intricates. It was one the most happening city with night life:P And the Gelato shop near our hostel was AWESOME. I was so addicted i had it minimum BD:P Best of all evrywhere was within walking distance:)

We also headed to Pisa for a day. Too bad it rained and crushed our dreams of camwhoring with the famous leaning tower. Cant possibly do that with an umbrella in one hand and the fear of getting wet:P  Us being us that did not deter us from making full use of our prop. Hehe

Btw, i think the leaning tower is overrated.

outdated (venezia)

22 Feb

I was looking through pics of my summer trip and then realised, hey i havent blogged about these! I think i only mentioned Milan:P I truly missed Italy and Paris and will definitely go back if i have the chance to. And cash of course:P

I know its like 2 seasons past summer  but its never too late right. Its nice to look back.hehe. And a lil reminder of what i did in case i get Alzheimers 30 years later haha

I have the tendency to korek things to blog about when i am subjected 24hours in front of my laptop doing my assignments. sigh. And making sense out of my nonsensical lab results. double sigh

Ok. Now lemme talk about my trip. or whatever bits i remember from it.hehe

From Milan we took the morning intercity train to Venice.Yes we mainly travelled by water here.

Firtst stop, Murano. Its an island famous for glassmaking as well as lampmaking. The glasses-by products were indeed breathtaking. But the locals not very much so. They werent the most friendly ppl we met mainly afraid that we would smash their glasses. Pfftt.
