A day in Nott

10 Nov

I envy those who get to experience autumn full blast in Nottingham. Or anywhere else in the world.

For those in Glasgow, before the poor leaves had the chance to turn yellow or brown, they were all ripped off by the ferocious wind/gale.  And now it hails. Having sunlight now is like waiting for the rain to come during draught.

Randomness on our way there.

img_1350

Lunch at the cafeteria was the highlight of the whole day. We ate nasi lemak, nasi ayam rempah, cucur udang, satay, curry puffs, cendol, etc etc. so happy omg *big wet eyes*

img_1437img_1444img_1447img_1449

we then adjourned to the volleyball court to watch our team in action. they made it to semi finals. but were thrown against last years champ, the notts team. But we were so good the score was neck to neck. The referee sucked like hell. Lost 1 point cos of his absentmindedness. And that one point cost us at least a silver. It was so damn kanceong ok. It was a superb game nevertheless!

img_1477

img_1486

the kanceong supporters

After that some hit the city centre and some took off to meet their frens. Some of us just stayed back and lepaked around. We were too tired and too lazy. But all we did was only scream and camwhore. LOL

I must say i like the overall huge campus-ish feeling in general but i wouldnt give up the convenience of running to aldi when im short of eggs or my 10mins walk to buchanan when i need a new bag:P

of this and that

7 Sep

It was part of the summer itinery i presume. But we were all so caught up with school work and exams we never found time to attend pub nights on wednesday organised by Jim Wilson. Until 3 days back. Now that exams are officially over, and jobless, we decided to give the pub night a go.

It was held in Soho this week. Flo said Committee Room was much better.

When we walked in it was kinda awkward. Evrything was hushed and everybody looked up for awhile before they resumed with their conversation. It was weird. But at least we got their attention. Even for just a minute:P

Said hi to Mr Jim Wilson and found a cosy spot. We were obviously the sesated group there. And it doesnt help being one of the latest there.

Girls being girls, we found ways to entertain ourselves.:P We camwhored:P

the girls

all of us

It was then the whole bunch of international students came over and combined tables with us. I thought it was nice of them to be friendly. And I thought some were cute too:P

And the cutest one according to meiwen whois ryan cabrera lookalike so happened sat next to me where i was ‘strategically’ placed-the edge of the table.

We chatted up a storm and ahyi decided to abandon the conversation halfway due to some reasons. blueks.

Everybody was chatting then including the other girls so it got a little noisy.Hence he had to move an inch closer otherwise i might as well be making sign languages to him:P Then i heard cameras clicking away. Semua orang jahattllaa:P

Im very shy wan marr:P And thanks meiwen for preserving my anonymity. It doesnt matter. my name is splashed all over karen’s blog so no mystery there. And its no big deal also. But if it gives my girlfrens the pleasure of fantasizing about him when they do the teasing thing i’ll just keep quiet lor. As long as theyre happy. See, that should increase my karma another notch:P

Anyhow,  we decided to adjourn to another club since the night got a lil boring. Felt kinda bad never say proper goodbye. Hope we didnt cemar nama baik Msia. We Malaysians do bid proper adieu under normal circumstances.hehe

Then i fell in love. With Bamboo:) Ive never really enjoyed clubbing in Malaysia with random cinapeks trying to grab ur ass and being engulfed in ciggies’ smoke. Ok the music might not be exactly up to date but the place reminded me alot of MOS in Spore where different part of the club plays diff genre of songs. We stuck to r&b and hiphop.

And eyecandies were aplenty too. Guy and girls alike. Had a good time drooling over some:P

Must go back next wednesday:) i miss Bamboo already. and i hope pub night will be somewhere more happening next week.

Next day, we were dead bored so watched Babylon AD with the guys. PLS it is so NOT recommended. The plot in the beginning was alright but towards the end it felt like the director ran out of money and had to cut the movie short. Might as well watch Dark Knight for the 3rd time.

kebab for supper in outside in the cold cold night

On Friday, we decided to pay Pollock House a visit since Ken had been raving on how beautiful it was. We needed to kill time and it has to be done on a budget. Its cheap to get there and could picnic (homecooked food-cheap). Sad case. Italy is gonna be so mempokaikan huhuhu.

But the place was far from sad. The Burrell gallery housed from beautiful stained glass, to armours to silks frm the middle east and breathtaking tapestries.

kissy kissy

interesting sculpture:P

massive stained glass collection

not vertically challenged.hehe

ignore the 2 hantus

the throne

pretty details

We also saw highland cattles along our way to the house. None gave us any damn though. Not even a flying stone by Ken that landed with a thud on their 5 inches thick fur got their attention. Sedihnya.haha

I think they were shaved not very long ago

Lunch time..wheee~~

Our food tasted like they came straight out from a fridge. It was THAT cold.

some chinese pancakes

steamed mantous..

lemongrass fried rice with bratwursts

ulou yang camera sensitif

After lunch-recharged-wackiness maximus

We also paid a visit to the beautifully sculptured gardens which won the Best European Garden award 2008. Not bad wei:) Naturally we spent hours camwhoring when we could easily cover the place in much less time. I could see regret in the guys’ eyes. LOL. Then Ken decided to be the ‘harsh’ guide and practically shooed us from one part of the garden to the next. blueks.

got proof ok

the girls

we were awed by the flora and beautifully sculptured garden all over. But i thought the gardens in Hampton  Court palace was much nicer

i swear this flower felt like plastic

this reminded me of some tribal skirt

i found something bigger than my face..oo la la

It then rained on us halfway through. Nothing could deter us from doing what we love most. CAMWHORE:P

I was the only one that erected my umbrella though. The only future healthcare professional that cares:P Others were too busy concocting their ANTM poses they didnt mind getting wet. Wet is sexy anyways.haha.

Since we were running out of time, we only entered the basement of pollock house. The £5 saved was spent on candies and postcards instead. bleah. mou tak kau:P

So that basically sums up how i spent my past few boring days.

Plus its so quiet at home cos our neighbours went to Manchester. Its so quiet its eerie.

Anyways i dyed my hair today. with Loreal Recital Preference Dark Red Ultra Violet. The colour is not that obvious but at least my haircolor is even now. And it was gel-like hence i sent a few splotches of red gel on my carpet and my chair. It now looks like a murder scene or sth close to that.

And went to the GYM. Ppl were shocked when they heard that. It about time to get my lazy ass to sweat. It felt good. Looking forward to aerobics next monday:)

AND sorry for the lack of updates.

Blame Moonlight Resonance lar. Im so addicted its unhealthy.haha. I cant wait for the next epi.

And Gossip S2 is out. Im totally in love with Chuck Bass. And what is wrong with Nate, screwing an older married rich lady. oops. spoilerr..haha

Anyways my neighbours came bac today with egg tarts and stories from Old Trafford. I cant wait to go huhuhu.

Peilian u better be ready for my arrival:P Cant wait to see you!!

Pork ribs anyone???

3 Jun

I wouldnt know the existence of this place if not cos of good reviews from some of my friends.

The supposedly huge banner which is located next to Citibank’s banner looks faded and not vivid enough. I actually missed it despite its size.

No picture cos i was too busy yakking in the car:P

They should put road signs or sth directing orang ramai to the place. Dahlah we dont have that many outlets like this in mainland, they should advertise kao kao since theyre like one of the very few ones we can find here. And very good too:) Apparently its the sister to Tony Romas and Manhattan Fish Market.

the interior

i ordered the famous st louis pork ribs combo with fried shrimp. The pork was smothered with super sensational bbq sauce and was just right. Juicy and tender that is. They used the same sauce for their buffalo wings which was equally great. I prefer this one to Chillis actually:)

my ribs.hehe

buffalo wings

my shirley temple’s just so-so. I prefer the one in lecka lecka:)

Bel had some blackened catch of the day which was superb. Didnt sound that appealing when i read the menu but when i tried i was like..gosh, they couldve come up with a better name to match its standard.

bel’s blackened catch. its blacker than it looks..hehe

Mich’s fish and chips and jess’s fried chicken fillet (duno whats the actual name) came in such huge portion it could feed my whole kampung:P haha..

the chicken fillets are massive:P

Service was amazing, waiters were friendly and we got 10% waivered off. prolly cos we were one of the very few customers there..muahaha..

The assistant manager and assistant kitchen manager actually came forth and gave us their name cards..and some discount stickers..haha..they must think we’re some food blogger:P..food blogger or not if i come across good stuffs of cos must share right:)

for u to cuci tangan laaa
overall it was a nice place to chill, good food and good service. Must say one of the best we have over here. And comparable to the ones u can find in kl:)

how to get there

see no evil, eat no evil, buy no evil

2 Jun

Been eating and lepaking like theres no tomorrow.

beware !!
long and random bits ahead

Watched Narnia and i thought it was just Ok..not mindblowing..but soso la..got cute boys to drool over..so well, it was good enough for me:P

Indiana Jones on the other hand was good from the beginning (*hearts* shia le bouf) but the ending was a bit potong stim..haha..extraterresterial?? they gotta be kidding..LOL

btw, the newly opened noodle station in sunway carnival was surprisingly good. Went there for dinner with my siblings before our movie:) Prices were reasonable and most of the dishes ive tried were yummy. And the tomyam is wicked:) i never thought i’ll ever eat any dish with evaporated milk in it. esp after my food poisoning incident in kuchai lama..hehe. but the tomyam is a must try:)

my honey bbq drumstick with springy noodles:)

i have a fetish for coloured drinks:P

my bro’s noodles that tasted like wantan mee:P

this pic doesnt do the thai fried noodles any justice. it tastes better than it looks;)

our tom YUMMmmmmm

Also, i saw my last sunset for the year in batu ferringhi with mich and bel. It was a race against time..We could see the sun already setting and were still far away frm the beach. Cos we lost track of time shopping in Gurney..hehe.We sped and this is what we got from whatever thats left of it:P

some locals enjoying the waves

then it got darker

to kill time, and to make full use of the almost empty memory card, we decided to do a lil bollywood before it gets too dark:P Not pro i know but this will suffice:)

golden sands compound..haha.no we didnt stay here. just ‘walked’ thru:P

Highlight of the day was pirated dvd hunting which left me rm64 poorer. but worth it nevertheless:). One disc is rm4 and if u purchase more than 10disc u get one free. Im missing that place already:)

Another thing worth mentioning was the Malay laksa my aunt had been raving about. Its in Pulau Jerejak Resort and Spa. Not the island itself. Just the jetty area:) It was not bad surprisingly. last time i had one was during highschool. and i didnt like it.hehe.But my heart stays with assam laksa:)

can u see the pg bridge?

zoomed..3.8x nia..haha

the jetty

Also, i met up with the PMCians in hongkie kopitiam, autocity the other night. Thought of catching dj Goldfish as well but to no avail. By the time we were done catching up and gossiping it was already late. It was great meeting up with Jason, Jean, Chris, Peihwa and Alan. Spent most of the time laughing. Esp when Chris painstakingly defended his hometown Bintulu. again. We even laughed at how they name their dishes.. Thats prolly the only thing that makes hongkie kopitiam different from wongkok char chan teng and kim gary:)

my tai chi pork ribs

gotta love the interior:)

the girls

all of us:)

Did SOME shopping also despite the very limited weight i can bring over. But essentials ma..what do to.blueks

yes, i love blings on my jeans:P

loving my new sunnies. its darker than it looks

went to queensbay with mum and sis yday..again.haha

i *heart* la senza sales. spend rm150 and above u get a free 2ml of Lancome Virtouse Mascara. i got 2 tubes. Plus get to apply for membership card and then got more discounts cos get to use the vouchers instantly..whee~~

bras, undies and baju tidur(s)

after shopping, had dinner in Siam Express. Ordered the set for 2 and topped up with another dish of Pandan Leaves Chicken. The tomyam was damn good i tell u. super sour and tasty. The green curry was delicious too. The pandan chicken was marinated and grilled/fried to perfection. My fav was of cos undoubtedly the tomyam. mum loves the green curry best..hehe

kangkung belacan

pandan chicken

some fried dumplings..this is just so so i think

this was green i swear:P its the lighting

orgasmic tomyam

our water chesnut dessert

that basically (ALMOST) sums up what ive been up to last 1 weekplus.

Going to makan dinner in Chicago Rib House later. Been hearing some good reviews about the place from a few friends. it better be good.ADIOS!!

world’s music festival @botanical garden

10 May

it is indeed true when ppl says that music is a universal language.

It is funny when u can groove to the performers’ tunes and yet not understand a single thing that was sung.

Performers from USA, Denmark, France, Tibet and Kenya sure heated up the atmosphere in botanical garden that very night. Groups of people was dancing like theres no tomorrow, while some were all set with booze and were drinking the night away.

We reached around 6plus and the whole place was already swarmed with people.

the stage area

this uncle is seriously all set. why didnt i think of a foldable chair?

by 730pm

The night started of with haunting tunes from Techung (Tibet). Honestly, it was so soothing and peaceful if u throw me a mattress i will doze off on it:P

The atmosphere was then revved up with upbeat performances by the traditional Cajun band, Balfa Toujours (USA). I was thinking, finally something in English. LOL. boy i was so wrong. the only time when they spoke in english was when they introduced themselves and when they wanted us to sing along:P they did a rendition on popcorn jazz(or so they say) and some watermelon song. the rest cant remember liao.hehe.

i *heart* the accordion-ist:P

I must say that the French band (Lo Cor De La Plana) that performed right after was worth drooling. French guys are sexayyy dont u agree with me? Dont care if i dont understand them, whatever that came out of their mouth sounded sexy.thats all that matters:P

i likey the one 2nd from right. badboyish..oo la la

Next up was the Afenginn hailing all the way from Denmark. Well known as the ‘bastard-ethno-band’, they did not fail to intoxicate the crowd with their trademark bass rhythms. They definitely wowed everybody with their cheeky play-as-they-feel attitude. And pink suit?? what was he thinking??LOL

Last band to perform for the night was Kenge Kenge from Kenya. I must say that showmanshipwise theyre definitely the best. The girls can really shake. both boobies and booties alike. they really entertained the crowd to the max. some i noticed were really ecstasy-high. those who can pump testosterone in particular:P

Gobi will DEFINITELY love this performance. curves+boobs+sexy hips will definitely turn him on. confirm nose pancut darah:P

apparently no kenyan woman is allowed to touch that instrument. its sacred.

Gobi must be thinking, ‘damn, why didnt i take up some kenyan folk dances? that guy couldve been me’

one of their hot moves:P

some moves from the guys.theyre really good with their ‘goods’:P. sent all the girls screaming.me included:P

The night ended with an explosive finale from all the performers since day1-3

No piccies of me cos i was all sweaty and oily. damn vain i know:P

And a BIG thank you to chris for the free ticket. and being a great company:)

Gosh, i miss the french hotties already:P
