5 girls, 3 1/2 days, a city, and 5 spilling waistlines.

Yes we ate. And shopped. I love the break from doing sightseeing during trips. Say no to cathedrals and museums!!

food galore

29 Aug

It is indeed nice to have housemates, neighbours or frens who are not sitting for pp3 degree. They have so much free time we get the privilege to sample fattening goodies from them.

Our supper tonight.

by hui bee,  who had no idea how vanilla essence looked like, and what folding the flour into the mixture means.

yes, this is her first cake.

And it was a success:) and she was so comical throughout the whole process.

and she thinks baking is much harder than pp3. LOL

marble cake

marble cake

then came yieng’s peanut butter cookies. it was yummy. aren’t we lucky?:)

not to forget steph’s bakkua that flew all the way from msia….*HINT HINT* mummy

i decided to join in the fun.  armed with my pp3 book on my dining table, i went on a garlic chopping rampage. Made garlic bread. i prefer it slightly less salty but some liked it the way it is. and everybody gave me such a hard time on being ‘ham’..eessh

im sure steph will be glad to see the almost 3 weeks old half baked baguette gone from the dining table:P

renu made us chapati and chicken curry a day before yday too. to celebrate hers and ahyi’s exemption. im so proud of u guys:)

It was damn good. can fight those mamak places we used to frequent back at home:) im sure u will do ur mother-in-law proud, angel:P

when they were still in balls:P

indian chicken curry. made from scratch:P

we had our capati with bakkuteh.very muhibbah i know.hehe

no, call it fungkutteh. we only threw in tau foo pok and lotsa mushroom in the soup. they were expiring fast. hence the combination:P it was still good nevertheless:)

our neighbour decided to spice up their dinners by having competitions where the chosen ones will whip up some fancy dish and the so called judges will comment and rate the dishes. heard carolyn had the hardest time from the ‘nasty’ judges.:P too bad i wasnt there.

yesterday was a battle between sue and jamie.lucky us neighbours we got to sample the dishes as well:) and pretend to be some noisy audience. ok, the noisy part was not pretentious:P

theme= western.

a bit of everything

a bit of everything

clockwise from 12oclock, coleslaw, mixed vege salad, curry powder chicken

i dont remember is this was sue's or jamie's lamb

u tell me, HOW NOT TO BE FATter LIKE THAT???

sad also eat, happy also eat. nothing can stop food from going into our GI tract. We always have reason to celebrate, even though we’re not the celebrated ones.LOL. jialat

So well, we finally met Cik Nazlinda from Jpa london and she treated us to a hearty meal in Cafe India glasgow. It was 20pounds for each of us and there were 28 of us. So well, u do the math urself. sexy silais

9 Jul

Here are some piccies of our food just to reemphasize on our silainess. Sexy ones though..haha..and in case you’re wondering, no we dont wear JUST apron when we cook. That would be kitchen slut. And no piccies of us in action. If we reveal our secret, we’ll have to kill you. jk

And yea, now we can hardly concentrate in anything without thinking about what to cook for dinner and if the strawberries in Sainsbury are out of stock. I even hear guys discussing their menu while waiting for labs to start. gosh. super uncle

so there. this basically summarises what went into our GIT for the past week. nothing fancy. just plain home cooked dishes:)

of shopping and my very ‘happening’ friday

20 Jun

i couldn’t sit still in class. after listening to god-knows-what-not-sterility-microbs-testing-bla-bla for 4 hours i just couldnt take it anymore. it was terribly agonizing. especially after some of my VERY KIASU classmates left the class to check out the summer sales in zara and along buchanan st. i left the class 1 hour before the class ended. i was immersed in guilt. but it was greatly reduced after bumping into some of my classmates on my way out.LOL

Yihui joined me 2 mins after i we went to the city center. just few mins walk away. not exactly financially healthy if ur uni is in the heart of the city:P

the sales in zara was a frenzy. we bought jackets and some other stuffs la. total damage?lets not mention-LAH:P

we were joined by other frens who came after class ended. so basically i could see my batchmates at every corner of the street.LOL.

we then had our dinner in oneils. wanted to try the 3.50pounds set that my homie raved about. soon after groups of familiar faces came in. jbc’s inhabitants conquered the whole place. we were all so noisy it was a miracle they didnt kick us out of the restaurant.LOL

and oh yea, if you noticed my hair was curled. was exiting debenhams when this promoter for some very famous hairstylist’s curling thong persuaded me to give it a try. tried one lock. it was ridiculously short. so i asked him to straighten it back. shoot. the lock was so stubborn. hence he had to do my whole head:P. was so paiseh many random strangers stopped and looked:P i wouldve bought it if its 16pounds and not 60 friggin pounds. it curls in like 3-5 secs and the curls actually stayed despite the strong winds that had been threatening to rip my head of my neck:P sumore need no chemical and any styling product. i wan i wan!!

hung jen’s chicken crockpot

my cheeseburger

ahyi’s and yihui’s salmon skewer. do not be deceived by its lack of presentation. its yumz

our bags:P

we were all excited cos its friday today. awesome! its been a LONG week with neverending lectures and long labs. but then we realised what are we gonna do?shops here closes at 5++pm. we hence quickly made our way to do grocery shopping. better than nth right. like aunties i know:P

on our way back, when we thought the night couldnt get any more boring, we saw a parade rehearsing for some international jazz festival in glasgow. it was all so colourful. i realised Glaswegians have a penchant for colourful parades:P

to celebrate our very boring fri night, ahyi and i whipped up tortilla chips dipped with salsa sauce and cheese. oo la la~~

very wuliao i know. should come up with something more creative besides eating>:P

last but not least

8 Jun

Had scrumptious seafood in Mantis Shrimp Village @ Bukit Tambun for dinner earlier.

This is the last time i get to sample seafood here before i leave. sobs

We tried a new place cos we were all very sien with Fishing Village ady. Not that the food is not good, but in my opinion, try to avoid that place during peak season; weddings, public holidays, weekends etc etc. Had dinner there during labour day last time and it was jam packed. The dishes served was almost tasteless and the wait was very long. Go during off peak period and u will find most of the dishes better than satisfactory:)

This seafood restaurant is prolly one of the only ones that serves salted egg crabs. I dont understand why is this method of preparation so rare here. Anyway, they were very generous with the salted eggs..yummmmmm:)

We also had crabs fried in kamheong style. This dish won the most votes among my family members:)

Next, we had stingray cooked in baba style. This is damn good in my opinion. But i’d like it slightly hotter and spicier..hehe

The stirfried ‘than'(in hokkien) was very fragrant and taste was just right. Very fresh too:)

The claypot sea cucumber with mix veges was awesome too.Id be happier if its a pot of tomyam or sth..hehe

what good is a place if they cant fry a decent plate of fried rice and noodles right:P

our watermelon juice

Everything came up to a grand total of rm129 nia. Super worth it:)

My first time but definitely not last..

will be back next year..toodles~~~

Pork ribs anyone???

3 Jun

I wouldnt know the existence of this place if not cos of good reviews from some of my friends.

The supposedly huge banner which is located next to Citibank’s banner looks faded and not vivid enough. I actually missed it despite its size.

No picture cos i was too busy yakking in the car:P

They should put road signs or sth directing orang ramai to the place. Dahlah we dont have that many outlets like this in mainland, they should advertise kao kao since theyre like one of the very few ones we can find here. And very good too:) Apparently its the sister to Tony Romas and Manhattan Fish Market.

the interior

i ordered the famous st louis pork ribs combo with fried shrimp. The pork was smothered with super sensational bbq sauce and was just right. Juicy and tender that is. They used the same sauce for their buffalo wings which was equally great. I prefer this one to Chillis actually:)

my ribs.hehe

buffalo wings

my shirley temple’s just so-so. I prefer the one in lecka lecka:)

Bel had some blackened catch of the day which was superb. Didnt sound that appealing when i read the menu but when i tried i was like..gosh, they couldve come up with a better name to match its standard.

bel’s blackened catch. its blacker than it looks..hehe

Mich’s fish and chips and jess’s fried chicken fillet (duno whats the actual name) came in such huge portion it could feed my whole kampung:P haha..

the chicken fillets are massive:P

Service was amazing, waiters were friendly and we got 10% waivered off. prolly cos we were one of the very few customers there..muahaha..

The assistant manager and assistant kitchen manager actually came forth and gave us their name cards..and some discount stickers..haha..they must think we’re some food blogger or not if i come across good stuffs of cos must share right:)

for u to cuci tangan laaa
overall it was a nice place to chill, good food and good service. Must say one of the best we have over here. And comparable to the ones u can find in kl:)

how to get there
